Reiki
- Wellbeing
“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy’; a term used to describe a natural system of healing. It can be enjoyed by anyone and is a tradition that is open to any belief system. Reiki can be used alongside conventional or complementary treatment and works on all levels of a person: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual, to restore a sense of wellbeing and balance. The method of receiving Reiki is simple. The recipient remains fully clothed and lies comfortably on a bed, couch or sits on a chair. The practitioner gently places their hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on the body, and channels ‘Ki’ through to the recipient. There is no massage or manipulation. Reiki can be used on the person as a whole or on specific parts of the body. Reiki is a safe and soothing treatment that has many benefits, including: bringing a sense of ease and calm at difficult times in one’s life, providing support during pre and post-pregnancy, improving stress-related conditions such as migraines, insomnia, anxiety and high blood pressure and supporting the body’s natural healing process to recover from an accident, operation or traumatic experience
